PCR is the more advanced diagnostic test for most infectious diseases. Other class of tests – which may be cheaper – like card-based tests or ELISA or even microscopy-based testing- are not a match in terms of accuracy of PCR. -Sensitivity and specificity for PCR are nearly 100%.
